Percutaneous Treatment of a Bronchobiliary Fistula Caused by Cholelithiasis: Case Report

چکیده
manifests as bilioptysis (the presence of bile in sputum), and this is an unusual and serious complication of liver and biliary diseases. There are many conditions can give rise to the development of such a communication (1-4). Biliary lithiasis is one of these, and it is perhaps the one most amenable to percutaneous management. Endoscopic or percutaneous procedures have been used successfully to avoid surgical exploration for this disorder (1-3, 5, 6). However, few reports exist on the percutaneous management of BBF due to cholelithiasis. We describe here a case where BBF was secondary to an obstruction caused by impacted common bile duct stones, and this was successfully treated with percutaneous biliary drainage and stone removal with balloon sphincteroplasty (7). This is the first reported case of the removal of calculi, in conjunction with balloon sphincteroplasty, for the percutaneous management of BBF due to cholelithiasis.

Minimally invasive treatment of patients with bronchobiliary fistula: a case series
INTRODUCTION Bronchobiliary fistula is an uncommon complication secondary to hepatobiliary surgery. Bilioptysis is a pathognomic finding for bronchobiliary fistulas. Diagnosis may be easily established in the light of clinical history, which can be aided by imaging studies to pinpoint the exact location. Some diagnostic procedures such as endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatectomy are also u...
متن کاملA Rare Case of Biliary Leakage After Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy–Diagnostic Evaluation and Nonsurgical Treatment: a Case Report
Although laparoscopic cholecystectomy has become a gold standard in treatment of symptomatic cholelithiasis, it is associated with higher risk of intraoperative lesions and primarily lesions of biliary ducts. In small percentage of cases biliary fistulas occur, most commonly after leakage from cystic duct stump or accessory bile ducts - Luschka's duct. We report of a patient who had episodes of...

The bronchobiliary fistula is an abnormal interconnection between the biliary tract and bronchial trees. It is rare but troublesome. The management of such fistula is a challenge. Surgical intervention is considered after failure of conservative treatment. Here we presented the successful video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery for secondary bronchobiliary fistula in 68-year-old hepatocellular car...
متن کاملBronchobiliary fistula caused after hepatectomy for hepatocellular carcinoma: a case report
BACKGROUND A bronchobiliary fistula, an intercommunication between the biliary tract and bronchial trees, is an extremely rare complication after hepatectomy. CASE PRESENTATION A 70-year-old male underwent partial resection of the liver for recurrent hepatocellular carcinoma under a thoracoabdominal approach. The immediate postoperative clinical course was uneventful, but the patient was febr...

In this report, we present the application of hepatobiliary scintigraphy using Tc-99m mebrofenin in the diagnosis of bronchobiliary fistula caused by a liver hydatid cyst, which penetrated the diaphragm. Hepatobiliary scintigraphy noticeably depicted the leakage of the tracer from the biliary system of the liver to the bronchial tree. Hepatobiliary scintigraphy stands as a robust modality in th...
